This week's Kawhia fishing report from Rob and Jacqui at Venturer Charters

Hi All,

Fishing has been somewhat up and down but, overall, very good, with some sizeable snapper, gurnard, the odd kingfish, and lots of kahawai. At present, there is an abundance of baitfish around. We had a marlin follow a kahawai up that a customer caught, so it's very fishy out there at the moment. Marlin are still being seen from 40 metres out to the deep. There are plenty of skippies about also in the above depths; little purple and black, and pink and white lures seem to be doing the trick.

Snapper are fairly widespread, from 8 metres just over the bar to 70 metres - you just have to find them. The shallower fish seem to be biting later in the day, though. The weather for the weekend isn't that great on Friday and Saturday, but Sunday and Monday are looking better.

Be safe out there.
